Terms of Use

1. What JoTo Play is

JoTo Play is the set of games on joto.games, made by JoTo Games. In a party game one shared screen, a TV or a laptop, shows the game to everyone, and each player uses their own phone as the controller. Other games you play on your own. These terms apply when you use joto.games, its games or an account at account.joto.games. By playing, you agree to them.

2. Free to play

Playing is free: there is nothing to buy and there are no ads on joto.games. If that ever changes, we say so on the page before you pay for anything. You need a recent browser and an internet connection; your own data costs are yours.

3. Accounts

  • You never need an account to play a public game.
  • An account is for one person. Make one account, for yourself, and only with an email address that is yours.
  • Accounts are for people aged 16 or over.
  • Keep your sign-in safe: whoever can sign in to your Google, Discord or email can use your JoTo account. Tell us at once if you think someone else has.
  • We may close an account that abuses other players, breaks these terms or is used to attack the site. Where we can, we tell you first, and why.
  • You can delete your account at any time on your account page.

4. In a room

Everyone in a room sees the names, avatars, drawings and answers on the TV and on their phones, and so does anyone who can see the TV. Pick a name you are happy for the room to see.

  • No hate, harassment, threats or bullying.
  • No sexual content, in a name, a drawing or an answer.
  • Nothing illegal, and nobody’s personal details but your own.
  • Don’t try to break, overload or cheat the games or the server, with scripts, bots or anything else.

The room’s host, on the TV or on the phone that runs the room, can remove a player. We can reset an account’s name that breaks these rules, and close the account if it keeps happening.

5. What you make

The drawings, names, answers and paintings you make in a game stay yours. You give JoTo Games a free right, which does not stop you using them anywhere else, to show them in the room you made them in and, only where the game says so on the screen, in a shared painting, gallery or replay. Today that is Overlook’s gallery, which shows a finished painting without a name. Ask us at info@joto.games to take one of yours down and we do. Only make what you have the right to share.

6. No warranty, and our liability

We make the games with care, but we offer them as they are. A game can change, stop working for a while or be taken down, and a game marked beta can still have bugs.

As far as Dutch law allows, JoTo Games is not liable for damage from using joto.games, or from not being able to use it, unless the damage comes from our intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights you have as a consumer under Dutch or EU law.

7. Dutch law and courts

Dutch law applies to these terms and to using joto.games. A dispute goes to the competent court in the Netherlands. If you live in another EU country, you keep the protection of your own country’s consumer law, and you may also go to the courts there. Please write to us first: most things are quicker to fix by email.

8. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms when the site changes. We put the new terms on this page and move the date at the top; from then on they apply. If you do not agree with a change, you can stop playing and delete your account.
